Heritage Forests Campaign Statement On California Suing Forest Service

WASHINGTON Robert Vandermark, manager of the Heritage Forests Campaign, a project of the Pew Environment Group, today issued the following statement in response to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision to sue the U.S. Forest Service over its national forest management plans for the Los Padres, Angeles, Cleveland and San Bernardino National Forests. These forests contain more than one million acres of roadless areas in California.

"Governor Schwarzenegger has once again gone to the mat to protect California's last wild areas. We applaud Governor Schwarzenegger's continued leadership and commitment to ensuring that our roadless areas will be here for future generations to enjoy."
