Heritage Forests Campaign Once They're Gone, They're Gone Forever

WASHINGTON - "Mark Rey is just the latest in a long line of Bush administration nominees for natural resource positions with extensive and disturbing ties to industry.

"In nominating Rey to oversee our national forests, President Bush appointed an individual who has a long record as a timber industry lieutenant, leading the charge against even the most basic forest conservation measures.

"President Bush has appointed the fox to guard the chicken coop, and our nationšs treasures will undoubtedly suffer.

"We call upon the Agriculture Committee to carefully consider the implications of this nomination on the future of our national forests."
