Heritage Forests Campaign News Release July 26, 2001 STATEMENT OF JANE DANOWITZ, DIRECTOR OF THE HERITAGE FORESTS CAMPAIGN, ON PRESIDENT BUSH'S NOMINATION OF MARK REY Mark Rey was nominated by President Bush on June 22 to be the Undersecretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and the Environment. He will testify during his confirmation hearing today before the Senate Agriculture Committee. Rey has a long record as a former top timber industry lobbyist. If confirmed, Rey would oversee the US Forest Service and the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
