Dear Vice President Gore: We have a responsibility to future generations to protect our last scenic wilderness. America's Heritage Forests, national forest roadless areas larger than 1000 acres, comprise one-third of all lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service, but are not protected from logging, mining and road building. I urge you to develop a strong roadless policy that gives permanent protection to all of America's Heritage Forests. A roads construction policy will not protect our nation's important legacy of wild, roadless heritage forests.
